Divorced women prone to heart attacks


Divorced women have a higher risk of heart attack than those who hold long-term marital status, according to a survey by the American scientists at Duke University Medical recently published in the journal Circulation

The researchers studied more than 15,827 people both men and women aged 45 to 80 years old were married at least once and interviews every 2 years for 18 years. Approximately 14% of men and 19% of women were divorced in the above number.

The scientists found that divorced women are at risk of heart attack than those who remain married. The concern is whether remarried, but the risk is still higher and increase remarried several times. Accordingly, divorced women or 2 times more at risk of heart attacks more than doubled. Lead researcher, Dr Matthew Dupree, said: "Divorce is the main stressors in life leads to economic consequences, emotional and physical health."

The team did not give a reason but clear evidence confirms the risk of heart attack increases from divorced women. On the men's side, they did not find a significant difference in risk between men divorced men maintain marriage.
